Most girls think the moment they let a guy break their hymen, they have lost their virginity. NO. The truth is virginity has nothing to do with dignity. A virgin is someone who has never engaged him or herself in any sexual activity in his life. Dignity has more to do with a person’s personality. What you want people to see you as and how you want people to judge you. A friend of mine who is also a writer and goes by the name; “HYMAR DAVID”, wrote on his Facebook page two weeks ago and I quote: “So many girls tie their dignity to their vaginas. They do not know it goes farther than that.” And I must say I agree with him completely. How can you say dignity is synonymous to virginity? It sounds unintelligent. It simply means all the girls and boys and married people around who are not virgins, do not carry dignity. It means only virgins are important.
Religion and culture has eaten so deep into us, we do not even know how and how not to judge things.
I always say; “A non-virgin is no less than a virgin. They are both humans and they both have rights. Just because a girl decided not to have sex until she gets married doesn’t make a girl who decided to do otherwise worthless. Virgin or not, every boy and girl is important and has something to contribute to the circle of life. Unfortunately some people do not see it this way and some girls have delved into the horrific well of depression just because they lost their virginity and everyone is saying they have lost their dignity. Especially in Africa where people believe men only want to get married virgins. In true sense, most men are not virgins and there are thousands and thousands of men out there who do not want to get married to virgins at all. Some do get married to prostitutes even. So I don’t see why girls should lock themselves up in their bedrooms and cry in regret for something they did con-sensually. It’s heartbreaking!
Some men are also not good. They are not virgins and they know it. But they want to date and only get married to virgins. It is not fair. Aside the fact that marrying a virgin won’t guarantee a happy marriage, virginity shouldn’t be the reason why you should want to get married to girl. After one night, it is gone. What then happens after that? Some of you might say respect. But NO!!! My grandmun entered into her husband’s house a virgin. Guess what? She suffered domestic abuse for so many years until she could take it no more and had to run away. So many marriages are like that. The woman marries the man as a virgin, and two years later, he is already cheating. What you should look for in a woman as a man, is intelligence, love, a good heart, a supportive heart e.t.c. Not virginity!!
To those girls who have lost their virginity, do not feel bad. You are beautiful honey. Nobody is better than you. And believe me, not all men are after your body. There are men out there who will adore you for who you are.
